Alkagesta said it took part in African Energy Week 2026 in Cape Town, where Rustam Mirzoev represented the company throughout the five-day event. In an account published on its website, the company described a programme bringing together energy executives, international investors and policymakers from both government and business to discuss the development of African energy markets.

According to Alkagesta, the conference covered upstream, midstream and downstream activities alongside renewables and energy services. Discussions examined Africa’s position amid geopolitical shifts and the investment needed across its energy markets. Another focus was how to move proposed projects into delivery, with sessions spanning power generation, hydrocarbons and renewable energy rather than concentrating on a single part of the sector.

Energy security featured among the programme’s main subjects, including Africa’s potential to become a strategic centre for hydrocarbon growth. Alkagesta also highlighted discussions on financing renewable energy development, bringing new activity to onshore and brownfield assets, and opening up frontier basins. Together, those topics covered both the development of existing assets and opportunities for further exploration across the continent, as well as the funding landscape for renewables.

Country-focused investment sessions examined Nigeria, Senegal, Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea, the company reported. These discussions addressed regional opportunities relevant to Africa’s next phase of exploration and production. They sat alongside the broader conference debate on investment requirements and project implementation, giving the programme both a continent-wide perspective and a focus on individual national energy markets.

Alkagesta linked its attendance to its existing business across African energy and commodity markets, including supplies of petroleum products and fertiliser in West and East Africa. The company presented the event as an opportunity to engage with policymakers, investors and industry leaders, while strengthening relationships supporting what it described as its expanding African operations.
